Badam Halwa - Recipe Marathon - Day5

Badam Halwa is a very tempting sweet rich in calories, so Im generally off it. I prepared this on my dad's request. He likes this sweet from his favorite sweet shop in T Nagar Gomathi Shankar. For those people from Chennai this is a small sweet shop near Ranganathan street with only a few vareity of sweets but amazing taste. This shop is very famous for their Ladoo, Badam Halwa and Wheat Halwa. My dad used to say that my grandfather liked the Wheat halwa they make. Every time I visit the shop and see Wheat halwa , I get reminded about my grandfather.
Now that's a lot of memories, back to the recipe.

Ingredients:
Badam - 1 cup
Sugar - 3 cups powdered
Milk - half cup
Saffron strands - 4 to 5 dissolved in milk.
Method:
Soak the Badam in water for about 4 hours.
Remove the skin of Badam after they are soaked for 4 hours. It will look like the ones below.

In a blender add the badam and milk to make a coarse paste. Remove it to a thick bottomed pan . Add the powdered sugar, and saffron strands. Keep stirring this under low heat for atleast 10 to 15 mins.

Add generous portions of ghee and keep stirring till the halwa leaves the sides. The whole preparation is to be done under low flame.

Once done, remove it into a greased plate or vessel and allow it to cool. You can garnish the Badam Halwa using dry nuts and fruits, but I served , Badam halwa sans dry fruits.
Verdict :
The whole box of Badam halwa was over within an hour of its preparation, courtesy my dad and chittappa.
