Wheat Dosa - Recipe Marathon - Day 11

Hey people .. here I am with an excellent diet food and a staple food for those who suffer from Diabetes. This is a dosa which can be had by people who want avoid rice in all forms. Simple yet very tasty dosa comes handy when you run out of dosa batter or sudden guest. I make this with a lot of cumin seeds, which enhances the flavour of the dosa.

Ingredients:
Whole wheat flour - 2 cups
Cumin seeds - 2 table spoons
Onion - 1 cut into small pieces.
Salt to taste
Oil - 1 teaspoon.

Method:
In a bowl mix the whole wheat flour with water to make a dosa batter consistency. Add chopped onions to it. In a small skillet add very little oil and when its hot add the cumin seeds and allow them to sputter. The smell of sputtered cumins is simply amazing...even as I type this I can smell it.
Heat the tawa and use very little oil so that the Wheat dosa does not stick to the tawa. This batter will not be as thick as the dosa batter, it will be thin, so care should be taken when you pour it on the tawa.
Lot of patience is required when you make Wheat Dosa, as you need to keep the flame low and wait till the dosa is fully done. If you do it using a high flame, the dosa will get either roasted too much or with stick on to the tawa. In both the cases you will require lot of oil. In which case the purpose for making this dosa gets defeated.

Finally , this dosa will taste amazingly good if you have it with sugar. But but, do not do that have it with either Sambhar or with coriander chutney. This makes a wholesome breakfast or a light, lazy dinner where you can make use of the leftover dal or sambhar.

Im sending this to Eat Healthy - Fight Diabetes Contest hosted by Sangeeth , last but never the least peek into my fellow runners blog to see what is cooking.
