Ingredients:
Vazhapoo - 1 cleaned and boiled
Bengral gram dal - 1 cup
Onions - finely chopped 1 cup
Salt to taste
Oil for Deep frying
Method:
Clean the Vazhapoo and boil them. How do you clean it ? Take each floret and remove the hardest part of it. along with a filament like petal. These two will not cook well, and again my mom says its not good for health. May be I should ask her why its not? So now after you clean it cook it in the pressure cooker for two whistles. The cooked Vazhapoo florets would be like the one below.
Soak the bengal gram dal for about an hours time and drain the water. In a blender add the cooked florets and bengal gram dal and make a smooth paste. To this mixture add the chopped onions and salt.
Lets peep into my fellow runner's kitchen.

I too like this, but mine version is abt different. Will try this as well.Looks delish and crisp.
Looks nice and crunchy
I recently saw this recipe in a cookery show..got to try it now..;-)..btw,I don't quite remember the kandukondain link to this vada..mayb am getting old..;-)
thats lovely and crisp for this rainy day. We used to make regualr masal vadai batter and add the boiled chopped floerts to it. Else to the above mix you have made add chillies and a spoonful of saunf and chopped ginger. that will give the wonderful aroma. I want these with some hot tea now ;)
never tried vadasa thiss way..they sure must be heavenly...
when i was a child I have had this in one of aunt's house. Still can remember the taste. Nice entry
Thats so lovely kamalika..my very favorite of vadas!
I would like to try this recipe - but don't we have to add some spices like saunf (sombu) etc for Vazhapoo recipes?>
