Kara Kozhukattai - Recipe Marathon Day 1

This is a snack that my mom makes atleast twice a month. Simple to make, and trust me its very delicious and filling. No specific side dish required for this you can have it as such or along with some sugar. It would also taste good along with Coriander Chutney.

Now to the ingredients and the preparation. You will require Raw rice which has to be soaked for atleast 3 hours.

Ingredients:
Raw Rice - 2 cups - soaked before hand
For seasoning :
Broken Urad dal , Mustard Seeds , Red chillies , Curry leaves , Bengal gram dal and oil.

Method:
Grind the soaked raw rice with mimal water to make a coarse paste. The ground paste should not be very smooth nor very coarse. When done remove it in a bowl and set aside add the required salt and blend it. In a wide, heavy bottomed pan add oil and when its hot add the mustard seeds followed by the curry leaves, Red chillies , Urad dal and Bengal Gram Dal. Add in the ground paste and keep mixing till the water content in it is gone and you get a chappathi dough consistency. Remove from fire and let it cool.
When its cooled down, roll into small balls and steam it in a pressure cooker or idli cooker. Wait for 10 mins and then remove it serve hot with Sugar. This is a perfect lazy sunday snack.
