Nedram Appam - Recipe Marathon - Day3

This is my favourite snack when I visit my Dear Grandma s place in Tirunelveli. Owing to its proximity to Nagercoil and Kerala , Nendram Banana is abundantly available and this is one easy quick snack that she makes.
Ingredients:
Nendram Banana - 2
Maida - 1 cup
Jaggery powdered - 2 cups
Rice flour - 2 tbl spoons
Oil for deep fry.
Method:
Slice the banana into small pieces. When you choose the banana, make sure its not fully ripe. Because if its fully ripe then you will not be able to dip it in the batter and fry it. It would be a bit soggy.
Make a batter with Maida , Jaggery and Rice Flour like the Batter of dosa. Dip each banana slice in the batter and deep fry them in hot oil.

Remove them when its golden brown. Eat it hot , the nendram will be cooked and its an amazing combination with jaggery. Sometimes kids like it with a dash of Ghee.

Have a look at what my fellow runners are cooking:

This is new to me. Looks like a fusion of kerala's pazham pori and appam.
