Every year , we go to our native place and offer prayers to our home deity. As a part of the pooja , we prepare Panchamirtham and do a abhisekam to the lord with it. This year I had the opportunity of preparing it. It was god s wish I guess , that made me prepare it against all odds.
I wanted to do a step by step pictorial for this dish and my sweet sister clicked the pictures as the dish was prepared.
Please note: The pictures are not edited as I wanted to show how it will actually look when the dish is prepared and this is a very long post with lots of pictures. Please bear with me
Ingredients:
1. Ripe Bananas - 6 nos
2. Apple - 2 nos
3. Guaua - 1
4. Dates - 10 -15
5. Oranges -1
6. Jaggery - 2 cups powdered
7. Diamond rock candy ( Kalkandu ) - 1 pack
8. Honey - 15 gms
9. Ripe Mango - 1
10- Black Seedless Grapes - 250 gms
11. Pomegranate pearls - 1 cup
Method:
1. Take the vessel in which you are gonna prepare panchamirtham and wash it well.
2. Ensure that it is dry, since moisture will spoil the taste of the dish
3. Peel the bananas and make thin slices of them
4. Mash the banana
5. Add the powdered jaggery to the mashed banana
6. Mix the mashed banana and jaggery well
7. Cut the mango pieces into the mixture and mix well
8. Now add the apple and guava into the vessel , followed by oranges

When we were kids, we used to go to the temple near by, just to have panchamritham and the thick jaggery based payasam :D. Love this!
